Voice from Labour Chowk

Each city of this Country has very special place to get man power services for household domestic purpose. The chowk is a microcosm of the free market where workers, armed with their tools and their luck compete for customers to make their pick. Most make it while those not lucky enough trudge back home

This is life at a ‘labour chowk’ in the city, and there are a hundred such locations, according to a recent survey of the labour department, where labourers gather daily in search of work. The chowk has a mixed group of skilled and unskilled workers – beldars, masons and painters to the helper engaged at construction sites.
